Report: skullz registered with FURIA for EWC
Sources have informed Dust2.us that Brazilian organization FURIA has registered Felipe "skullz" Medeiros to their roster for the upcoming Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The deadline for the Esports World Cup rosters was July 1st.
The move comes ahead of several weeks of rumors and negotiations between the two sides as Liquid looks to re-tool their roster this offseason while FURIA is hoping to finally have a permanent replacement for Andrei "arT" Piovezan.
Liquid's revamp comes after a disappointing first half of 2024 where the team failed to qualify for several major events, including the 2024 PGL Copenhagen Major. FURIA is also in the midst of a shakeup as they transitioned IGL duties to Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and appear to have held onto key piece Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato.
Kayke "kye" Bertolucci, benched earlier this month, has departed the roster already to make room for skullz. FURIA's finding their fifth is not the only recent news for the organization. The current front-runner for the new skipper is reportedly FURIA's assistant coach, Sid "sidde" Macedo, while American Hunter "Lucid" Tucker is set to become an analyst for the organization.
When contacted by Dust2.us, FURIA declined to comment on the story while Liquid did not immediately respond by the time of publication.
FURIA's expected EWC roster is:
-
Yuri "yuurih" Boian
-
Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato
-
Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo
-
Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes
-
Felipe "skullz" Medeiros
