Update: Verum bench AJaxz
With a strong first season of Premier under their belts, Verum have made the surprising decision to bench Austin "AJaxz" Janocha and search for a new fifth player before the start of ESEA Premier Season 39.
Verum's debut season of Premier, Season 38, was a surprise success for the lineup as they qualified to playoffs with a 3-4 regular season record ahead of GGPR, Eros, and Third Impact. In playoffs, the team got off to a strong start with a win over ChocoCheck before falling to the likes of RBG and Strife.
Despite this strong showing, Michael "Millz" Millsaps told Dust2.us that the team elected to remove AJaxz from the starting lineup claiming that he was "mentally checked out" and that while they still personally like him they want to find someone who is as "emotionally invested as the rest of the team." Darius "PNDLM" Bandali echoed these sentiments, additionally saying that this decision was a long time coming and not "over 1 loss."
When Dust2.us reached out to AJaxz, he declined to comment on "inter-team decisions".
With AJaxz on the bench, Verum now consists of:
- Michael "Millz" Millsaps
- Scott "Scottyio" Baker
- Brian "chew" Mao
- Darius "PNDLM" Bandali
- Austin "AJaxz" Janocha (Inactive)
Verum will need to find a new fifth before the start of ESEA Premier Season 39 on November 2nd.
Update: Following the publication of this story, AJaxz released a series of tweets explaining his side of the story regarding his benching from Verum.
