FunPlus Phoenix part ways with Lucid

Citing time zone differences and friction, Lucid has parted ways with the European lineup.

FunPlus Phoenix have parted ways with their analyst, Hunter "Lucid" Tucker, ending the American's three-month tenure with the Chinese organization.

Lucid's departure from FunPlus Phoenix comes after the European lineup failed to qualify to PGL Stockholm 2021 following a dismal 17th-20th place finish in IEM Fall: Europe.

FunPlus Phoenix's failure to qualify to the Major marks the end to an underwhelming period for the team. Their sole notable result in recent months was a second place finish in the European BLAST Fall Showdown Qualifier, Fantasyexpo EU Champions, where the team were bested 2-0 by MAD Lions in the finals.

Lucid told Dust2.us that he ultimately decided to part ways with FunPlus Phoenix due to the time zone difference with the team, with the hours affecting his mental health and sleep schedule.

Additionally, Lucid said that there was some friction with the organization as they expected him to take on extra responsibilities for the team that were not outlined in his contract, leading to extra stress and an increased workload. Despite the difficulties, Lucid said he wanted to thank his team and the organization for the opportunity as a relative newcomer in the analyst space.

FunPlus Phoenix consists of:

  •  Jesse "zehN" Linjala
  •  Martin "STYKO" Styk
  •  Pavle "maden" Bošković
  • Denmark Asger "farlig" Jensen
  •  Luka "emi" Vuković
  • Sweden Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg (Coach)

Lucid stated on his Twitter that he is currently on the lookout for coaching and analyst offers in both CS:GO and VALORANT.
