Perseverance disband following shock elimination from Advanced playoffs
ESEA Advanced squad Perseverance have disbanded less than a month after being signed by the Canadian organization in mid-May. The dissolution of the experienced lineup follows the team's shock elimination from ESEA Advanced Season 49 playoffs at the hands of Snakes Den in the second round of the lower bracket.
This stark reversal of fortunes came after Perseverance notched a 13-1 record in the ESEA Advanced Season 49's regular season with their sole loss coming at the hands of Brazilian superpower Legacy, allowing them to claim the first seed in playoffs due to their Buchholz score.
Despite the favorable seeding allowing Perseverance to skip the first round of the upper bracket and hosting multiple players with ESL Challenger League experience, Perseverance lost their opening match against Villainous, forcing them down into the lower bracket where they cleaned up OutGoing 2-0 before being felled by Snakes Den 2-1.
This poor showing show in ESEA Advanced along with a 1-1 start to CCT Season 2 NA Series 1 seems to have driven the team to call it quits, with Aureo telling Dust2.us that the results created a lot of doubt in the team's future. Last night Perseverance played with Stephen "SGM" Mechan and Evan "Fugi" Healy in place of Andrew "Andrew" Burrell and Chance "xaler" Palmer, suggesting they may have been the first dominos to fall.
Andrew has since returned to the squad for their win over TSM Shimmer today, with Aureo saying the team hope to finish CCT, albeit with xaler seemingly out of the picture.
Perseverance consisted of:
-
Andrew "Andrew" Burrell
-
Mason "mason" Watkins
-
Johnny "JDubs" Wu
-
Chance "xaler" Palmer
-
Justin "Sandman" Saulle
-
"Aureo" (Coach)
All five players and Aureo will now look for new homes ahead of the start of ESEA Advanced Season 50 on July 14th.
