Former Fragadelphia standouts pausing CS division
Apeks has sadly announced that it's Counter-Strike division would be put on pause while shuttering it's Fortnite group and focusing more on the squad's VALORANT team as they attempt to qualify for the VALORANT Champions Tour, the highest level of competition in the esport.
The organization has already experienced some difficulty in the recent weeks following the departures of Martin "STYKO" Styk, Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad and Tim "nawwk" Jonasson putting Aleksandar "CacaNito" Kjulukoski and Ådne "sense" Fredriksen in an awkward position to fulfill obligations while playing with several stand-ins.
"As chairman of the board, I feel it's important to act on these challenges directly. These difficult decisions, including the temporary layoffs and the pause of our Counter-Strike division, were made with a heavy heart to secure a sustainable future for Apeks," Ole Anfinnsen said in a statement. "My commitment to the team and to the vision we all share remains unwavering. We are determined to overcome these challenges and emerge stronger than ever."
Kenneth Gaupseth Johansen, Manager of the Counter-Strike team, wrote that he had also been directly impacted by the challenges. "As the Counter-Strike manager, but also a co-founder of the club, I am extremely proud of what we've achieved over the last couple of years. The journey has been super exciting and instructive. I am also directly impacted by this, and therefore i'm seeking opportunities."
Apeks is a fan favorite in North America for their involvement in the domestic scene. The organization first sent Apeks Rebels to Fragadelphia 16 in early 2022, and then ended up finishing second to Strife. Following that success, the organization sent their main roster which included players like Richard "shox" Papillon and Justinas "jL" Lekavičius. They would finish in the event's semifinals after losing out to BIG Academy.
