DAVEY steps down from Mythic
David "DAVEY" Stafford has stepped down from Mythic, Dust2.us has confirmed. The Canadian IGL leaves the team after helping the stream team retain their spot in Premier after a number of close series in ESEA Premier Season 37 Relegation.
DAVEY told Dust2.us that he made the decision to step down from Mythic as he is planning on moving to Europe in the near future to focus on casting. The former professional player has been plying his craft as a caster and an analyst since 2019 while playing CS:GO with the likes of Peeker's Advantage and Mythic.
In 2021 DAVEY has thus far worked a handful of events, including casting the Flashpoint 3 Closed Qualifier alongside Jack "Jacky" Peters and being an analyst for DreamHack Open June alongside former Peeker's Advantage teammate Alex "Mauisnake" Ellenberg.
The loss of DAVEY will come as a harsh blow to Mythic, as the Canadian was the team's IGL and top-rated player during Relegation, posting a 1.26 in the team's defense of their Premier spot. DAVEY was also their second highest rated player during the regular season, posting a 0.98 rating over the course of 23 maps.
With DAVEY heading to Europe, Mythic are now:
- Erik "fl0m" Flom
- Josiah "JoJo" Jimenez
- Alexander "LeX" Deily
- Bradley "Slugy" Kohler
Mythic will need to find a new fifth before the start of ESEA Premier Season 38 on August 17th. The team recently fielded retired duo Shawn "witmer" Taylor and Stephen "Huston" Huston during Knights: Revival. It is currently unknown if they will be staying with the team moving forward, although their VALORANT team did recently disband on July 9th.
