Canada announces Women's National Team for IESF WEC 2024 qualifier
Esport Canada, the country's national body for esports, has announced the squad that will represent Canada in IESF's World Esports Championship 2024 qualifiers in Rio de Janeiro between August 24th and September 1st.
Surprisingly, Canada has seven players participating in a combine. In a group of current and former CS2 pros, the list also includes some former VALORANT pros and, most notably, Stephanie "missharvey" Harvey, FlyQuest's current CCO and legend of the women's scene.
The roster is headlined by Mounira "GooseBreeder" Dobie, and Amanda "rain" Smith, while the other current CS2 pros are Jessica "jesscas" Ngo, and Julie "Bouchard" Bouchard. Jasmine "Jazzyk1ns" Manankil, a former Complexity GX3 player, and Mirna "athxna" Noureldin, a former FlyQuest RED player and current caster and desk analyst, are coming over from the VALORANT scene to help Canada secure a spot in the WEC 2024. Rounding off the squad is missharvey, as mentioned previously.
The path to Riyadh starts in Rio de Janeiro for Team Canada, as the IESF will be hosting the Americas qualifier during the Panamerican Esports Games in Brazil. Of the 21 countries participating in this event, only three nations will secure a trip to Saudi Arabia, one less spot than last year's IESF's WEC. The event, originally scheduled to be held in June, has been postponed to the final days of August.
As a reminder, last year, there wasn't a regional qualifier for the American continent, as the United States, Argentina, and Brazil were invited for the main stage. The United States and Argentina would advance from the group stage, and while Argentina lost in the grand final against the Netherlands, the US finished in third place.
The Canadian national team is comprised of the following players:
-
Mounira "GooseBreeder" Dobie (FlyQuest RED)
-
Amanda "rain" Smith (Karma)

Jessica "jesscas" Ngo (Nouns fe)
