M80, Nouns highlight invites to first Thunderpick World Championship qualifier

Sixteen teams have been invited to the Thunderpick World Champions NA Closed Qualifier #1. These teams will face off in a single-elimination BO3 bracket for two prizes. Second place will receive $5,000 while first will grab $20,000 and a spot at the EU-based Thunderpick World Championship later this year.

The qualifier kicks off on May 19th, playing until May 24th. Fear not, however, if your favorite team fails to make it through as Thunderpick will host a second Closed Qualifier in June for a total of two NA Closed Qualifier invites.

This year's event marks a significant difference from the 2023 edition of the Thunderpick World Championship, though. Last year, two NA teams were granted invites from both Closed Qualifiers, giving a total of four North American teams the chance to play in Europe. This time, though, that opportunity is only afforded to two NA teams.
