TACO and GODSENT avenged their loss to Bad News Bears in the cs_summit 8 Closed Qualifier

Update: GODSENT win ESEA Spring Cash Cup 6 over Bad News Bears

The win is the Brazilian's squad best finish since forming at the beginning of the year.

GODSENT got their revenge for the cs_summit 8 Closed Qualifier and defeated Bad News Bears 2-0 to claim a $9,000 prize for the weekend of play. paiN also swept RBG in the third-place match to secure a majority Brazilian podium for the event.

The early rounds saw a number of ESEA Premier sides being upset by lower division competition. Turkish-American ESEA Advanced side YeniCherry was able to obliterate CNSRD and took down Big Chillin in overtime before losing to Bad News Bears, GGPR forfeited their first-round match, and Third Impact and Recon 5 were eliminated by Party Astronauts and Secret Club, respectively.

oNe were eliminated in a whitewash on Inferno by their Brazilian countrymen from GODSENT. Overall, this Cash Cup featured a higher than usual number of quality teams participating, prompting expanded coverage of the event by HLTV.

The first quarterfinal was dominated by Bad News Bears in the second half. Party Astronauts hung around and trailed just 9-6 when the teams switched sides, but only managed to get two stops on their Inferno defense in the latter half of play as Bad News Bears cruised to day two of the event. Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman, who stood in for Nick "alter" Jackson, led all players with 22 kills, while Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue led Party Astronauts with 19 frags.

The other quarterfinal between Secret Club and GODSENT saw very little defensive prowess displayed by both rosters on Inferno. Secret Club managed to put together a decisive 11-4 lead by the end of the first half, but GODSENT came all the way back with a 12-3 T side of their own to win in regulation. Both Bruno "b4rtiN" Câmara and Epitacio "TACO" de Melo tallied fourteen of their nineteen kills in the second half of play to power the Brazilian resurgence.

The Brazilian derby was the only series in the second day of the Cash Cup to go to all three maps. Each South American side took their own map pick convincingly, but it was GODSENT who ran away with the Vertigo decider. Things looked alright for paiN in the first half after they claimed an 8-7 lead on CT side, but when it was their turn to attack they managed to steal away just one round from the GODSENT defense. João "felps" Vasconcellos led all players with 65 frags in the series, while paiN were led by 55 kill from Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato.

Bad News Bears were dominant on their map pick of Nuke, following up a 10-5 performance on the T-side of the map with a flawless CT-side to quickly grab a 1-0 series lead. RBG looked like they would even the series out on Inferno, but Anthony "CLASIA" Kearney suffered the same fate as his former Secret Club teammates the day before as Bad News Bears ran it all the way back and claimed a thirty-round victory. Jonathan "Jonji" Carey led all players with 48 kills in the series, while Colby "Walco" Walsh led RBG with 38 frags in the loss.
