tacitus leaves Triumph to explore other opportunities
Earlier this afternoon Marcos "tacitus" Castilho announced his departure from Triumph. tacitus has been with Triumph as an analyst since April 2nd of last year and was promoted to head coach on June 30th.
Triumph saw a great deal of success during tacitus' tenure, during which the team won ESEA MDL Season 33 and earned promotion to ESL Pro League Season 12. There, they went 0-7 in what was their first outing following Michael "Grim" Wince's departure for Liquid, but still managed to take maps off of Chaos, Evil Geniuses, and Liquid. Their Pro League campaign was followed by a triumphant return to ESEA Premier for Season 36, as tacitus led his team to a second place finish following a nail-biting 3-2 loss to Bad News Bears in the grand finals of the postseason.
They won a number of smaller events, including Mythic League FPL Cup #1, ESEA Cash Cup Summer #4, and Dust2.us Masters FPL Cup #1. Under tacitus' leadership the squad also finished second in IEM Beijing 2020 North America to Chaos.
tacitus' legacy will remain intertwined with that of Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman, as the pair have spent the last year building and rebuilding rosters that were capable of competing at the top of ESEA's highest division, despite continually having their brightest stars snatched up by other teams, or retiring from CS:GO to play VALORANT.
Just days after tacitus joined the coaching staff Triumph lost Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk to VALORANT and Logan "Voltage" Long moved on to play for Chaos. tacitus' tenure also included the aforementioned Grim pickup by Liquid, Paytyn "Junior" Johnson's transfer to FURIA, and Erik "penny" Penny's transition to VALORANT where he eventually landed with Version1.
tacitus told the following to Dust2.us about the decision to move on:
It was a personal career decision, a difficult one at that, given that I feel like Alan and I work really well together and I had a great relationship with the Triumph organization. The decision pretty much boiled down to me wanting to get fresh air, potentially in a region outside of NA, and continue my growth path in CS:GO.

Wesley "viz" Harris also announced on Twitter that he will not be rejoining Triumph for ESEA Premier Season 37. viz averaged a 1.09 rating for Triumph in ESEA Premier Season 36 and will be an attractive option for the myriad of teams still looking to finalize their roster in the coming week.
Triumph are now left with:
- Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman
- Brendan "Bwills" Williams
- Austin "Cooper-" Abadir
- David "cynic" Polster (Trial)
Triumph have until their first match of ESEA Premier Season 37 to piece together another roster and fight for a spot in ESL Pro League Season 14.
