Americas not in Major playoffs for first time since DH Winter 2014
The Americas might have gained two spots for the Perfect World Shanghai Major, but it also lost a coveted spot in the Elimination Stage as no team from the region has reached the playoffs for the first time since 2014. It's an embarrassing result for the region, regardless of the gains made in the Opening Stage.
FURIA, paiN, and Imperial all qualified out of the Opening Stage for the Elimination Stage, giving two additional spots to the Americas who only had five heading into the Copenhagen Major.
Complexity, along with the aforementioned Brazilian squads, were unable to reach three wins, despite the American team being one of the first four in the stage to go 2-0. The Americans failed to win against MOUZ, Vitality, and FaZe cementing their elimination from the Major.
Following the loss, Michael "Grim" Wince told Dust2.us that the squad still could take positives from the event while Complexity's General Manager Graham "messioso" Pitt informed the publication that no roster changes would be coming following the defeat.
The Americas has a habit of making the playoffs, with usually only one team making it to the final eight at a time. Brazil holds the mantle in recent years for reaching the playoffs thanks to FURIA's consistency. However, Liquid was the last team from the region to do so at the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023.
The Shanghai Major begins on December 1st, with seven teams from the Americas attending. Complexity, FURIA, Imperial, and paiN have all earned automatic berths to the Americas RMR which will be held earlier in November.
