Liquid turn down GET Rio invitation
Liquid were tapped to play in the Global Esports Tour (GET) Rio 2024, a $200,000 competition set to take place in late April, however they have turned down the invitation as they are looking to focus on other tournaments.
The international squad is still reeling from their loss to Complexity at the PGL Copenhagen Major Americas RMR. They will have the next few weeks to watch the Major from the sidelines as they prepare for the Skyesports Masters 2024 and ESL Pro League Season 19.
Dust2 Brasil is reporting that Liquid is no longer going to the Brazilian event because they have decided to compete in the Esports World Cup qualifiers, which take place from April 16th through April 19th. These dates directly conflict with GET Rio, which is supposed to take place from April 18th through April 20th.
The teams that will be attending GET Rio will be FURIA, Imperial, MIBR, Preasy, 9z, Metizport, Monte, and OG.
Despite not going to the Major, Liquid's calendar is already filling up quick with events. Alongside the aforementioned Skyesports Masters 2024 in India and the ESL Pro League Season 19 in Malta, they will also be attending IEM Dallas 2024 towards the end of May.
