AGO take convincing win over Chiefs in Global Challenge opener
The opening Group A game saw the EU MDL champions AGO face off against their Australian counterparts in Chiefs. With it being a best-of-one match, the two teams veto'd the game into Train.
With AGO starting on the T-side, they kicked off the game with the pistol round and followed it up with strong anti-ecos. The first full-buy round also went the way of AGO, as the Polish side took seven rounds without reply thanks to a strong performance from Michał "snatchie" Rudzki. Chiefs managed to pull two rounds out to prevent AGO from gaining an unassailable lead, thanks to key kills from Joshua "INS" Potter to keep the rounds in their hands.
Unfortunately Chiefs weren't able to take more rounds that time around, thanks to Dominik "GruBy" Swiderski picking up two multi-kill rounds in a row. But Chiefs weren't to be knocked down just yet, as Liam "malta" Schembri secured a sneaky 1v2 clutch to allow his side to take two more rounds. After that AGO completed the half, going in with an 11-4 lead.
The second half looked like it was to start off with a Chiefs rally as the Australians picked up the pistol, but AGO forced up to start a run of their own. The Polish side secured multiple rounds in a row to claim match point, before inevitably securing the game in a comfortable 16-5 fashion.
The next game stays in Group A, with Space Soldiers facing off against Rise Nation in their opening match, on the ESEA twitch channel.
