paiN kauez: "I thought of retiring"
Esta entrevista está disponível em PT-BR.
After qualifying with paiN for the PGL Copenhagen Major, Kaue "kauez" Kaschuk went from being VAC-banned at 17 to qualifying for the first Major he was eligible to compete in. After being dropped by DETONA due to the VAC ban, kauez formed MEGAZORD with other players in the same position before being picked up by FURIA Academy. Ultimately, the Brazilian, now 20 years old, went to paiN.
kauez spoke with Dust2.us' own Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore, thanks to Dust2 Brasil's Vitoria Von Bentzeen's translation, about the player's performance, his thoughts on retiring after the VAC ban, the MEGAZORD project, and more.
Please note that the full interview can be found below on YouTube, while the transcript has some key snippets from their conversation.
You have had a fantastic performance at the RMR. Were you expecting to play so well during your first RMR?
Honestly, I was not expecting it but during the bootcamp we did in Portugal I was really doing well, so I came into the event with a lot of confidence and it turned out I crushed it and played well.
You were VAC-banned previously, and this is the first Major that's possible for you to qualify for. How does it feel to come back from being VAC-banned to now attending your first Major?
At 17 years old I was at the peak of my career at the time and I got VAC-banned. I thought of retiring but everything was falling into the right place, people hated me a lot but I was able to take that hate and turn it into more will to play and today I am here, unable to describe how I am feeling, I'm very happy and I proved to everyone that I did it.
When paiN were rebuilding, how did it feel to be sought after by them?
I was standing out in the scene when not only paiN but also other teams reached out to me and FURIA [Academy]. At that time I started to feel like I was ready to take the next step and I was very happy.
