The first CS2 Major could start with ZERO American players
It's not an understatement to say that North American fans are not pleased with how the PGL Copenhagen Major Americas RMR has gone. Nouns were eliminated early, NRG struggled, and Elevate were hampered from the get-go. Then, Wildcard and BOSS were eliminated by their own countrymen, leaving Complexity, Liquid, and M80 alive.
Now, thanks to a series of unfortunate events, Liquid and Complexity are facing off in their do-or-die match while M80 will face Marcelo "coldzera" David's Legacy for a ticket to Copenhagen.
Considering the matchups, this will be the first time that there is potentially not a single Canadian or American heading to a Major event. Should M80 be eliminated and Liquid win, there will not be a single American for the first time at a Major. Historically, five Americans, with the exception of the ELEAGUE 2017 Atlanta Major at only four, have attended every Major. The most Americans ever were at the 2016 MLG Columbus Major with 16 in attendance.
As for Canada, should Complexity beat Liquid, it would be the end of their streak at the Majors, with at least one Canadian attending every single event. Keith "NAF" Markovic and Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken have been consistent attendees of the Major, with the last time that either player failed to reach the Major being the 2017 PGL Krakow Major.
North American fans will have the morning off as M80 don't get into the action until 02:00PM and then Liquid and Complexity will start their battle at 05:00PM.
