Third Impact sign f1ukie and Koalanoob; Switchy steps down
With ESEA MDL Season 35 set to begin tomorrow, Third Impact have undergone a number of changes, with long-time coach William "Switchy" Locher stepping down from the team while Tonny "f1ukie" Liu and GianFranco "Koalanoob" Potestio have joined to complete the starting five.
Switchy's departure from the team comes after more than eight months with the lineup, with the coach notably helping the team to a first-place finish in ESEA Advanced Season 34 alongside back-to-back wins in WINNERS League Main. When asked about his future plans, Switchy told Dust2.us that he left the lineup to focus on new projects, with Switchy currently being the director of marketing and sponsorships for Drifters, Third Impact's former Overwatch team. He also said he wants to get involved in CS:GO content creation on his YouTube channel.
The new additions to the team, f1ukie and Koalanoob are relatively new faces to the scene, with the duo having played their first season of Advanced during Season 34 under Supernova. Posting modest 0.85 and 0.88 ratings during Advanced playoffs, respectively, the youngsters will have to step up against the heightened level of competition in MDL. Noah "insane" Eheart addressed f1ukie and Koalanoob's lack of experience in a TwitLonger saying that while the addition of the unproven players represents a risk compared to more experienced players who tried out for the team, insane consider the players unproven and hungry prospects that represent an investment for the team beyond Season 35.
Third Impact are now:
- Keanu "DaneJoris" Reyes
- Josiah "JoJo" Jimenez
- Noah "insane" Eheart
- Tonny "f1ukie" Liu
- GianFranco "Koalanoob" Potestio
Third Impact's new lineup will be making their debut tomorrow against Mythic at 7:15 EDT.
