Grim reaps the competition in June player ranking
Triumph's Michael "Grim" Wince has topped the final player ranking before the July break, boasting a stellar 1.35 rating over the course of a month where he competed against the likes of MIBR, FURIA, and Evil Geniuses.
Events that were factored into the creation of this ranking include ESEA MDL Season 34, BLAST Premier Spring Americas Showdown and Finals, ESL Pro League Season 12 qualifier, DreamHack Masters Spring 2020, the open and closed qualifiers for DreamHack Open Summer and cs_summit 6, and cs_summit 6 itself. Only players that took part in fifteen or more maps were considered.
Grim's incredible rating is even more notable when you consider that he played 28 maps over the course of the month, competing against a handful of the best teams in North America. A shining moment for the 19-year-old came in a cs_summit 6 qualification series against MIBR, wherein he averaged 109 damage per round and concluded the three-map series (albeit with a lengthy overtime on Overpass) with a 123-70 K-D.
Additionally, the Triumph talent helmed the team's effort against FURIA in the ESL Pro League Season 12 qualifier, although they were unable to prevail over the Brazilian frontrunners to miss out on their first chance to earn a spot in ESL's premier league. They will be able to make a second attempt following the player break, and now look to close out the first half of the year on a high note as they are set to take on Yeah in the semifinals of WINNERS League Season 4 Invite.
Below Grim sat Cloud9 AWPer Josh "oSee" Ohm, who had a resurgent performance this past month as he helped Cloud9 qualify for cs_summit 6. He also played well in BLAST Premier Spring and DreamHack Masters Spring, helping himself to a 1.23 rating over 21 maps played. Liquid rifler Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski came in at third with a 1.20 rating, a solid performance for almost any other player but a slight drop off compared to his excellent form in the first half of the year.
Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue aided New England Whalers in their effort to claim the top seed in MDL Season 34 with a 1.19 rating, but the team ended up eliminated from the playoffs in fast fashion following losses to Mythic and Levitate. Speaking of the latter team, Brendan "Bwills" Williams led the charge in their end to the season, although the team failed to close out on a strong note as were felled by Recon 5 in the lower bracket final.
After topping last month's ranking with a 1.26 rating, Erick "Xeppaa" Bach slipped down to sixth place in June despite putting up solid performances against his competition. Just below him resides Complexity's Owen "oBo" Schlatter, who averaged a 1.14 rating in an effort that saw his team claim victory in the European division of BLAST Premier Spring to close out the season.
Finally, the bottom end of the top ten was rounded out by Paytyn "Junior" Johnson, who continues to impress with his AWP prowess on Triumph, Recon 5's Jet "jet-" Gao, and Keith "NAF" Markovic.
