Complexity tumble out of Thunderpick
Complexity have fallen out of the Thunderpick World Championships following losses to Spirit and, ultimately MOUZ. While the squad were able to get one win against M80, it was not enough as their hopes of claiming the spoils of the $500,000 grand prize have fallen through. Coming off of a run at IEM Sydney which saw them finish second, many NA fans hoped that it was the beginning of something good. With hopes all the way in the sky, the loss today brought them all the way back down to earth.
The Americans went into the match starting going into the European's pick of Nuke, which ultimately wasn't much of a contest. Despite starting out on the CT-side, Complexity could barely get three rounds, despite winning the opening pistol. After having a small 3-2 lead, MOUZ won eleven rounds in a row to win 13-3.
Complexity's pick of Overpass also started out concerningly slow, but they were able to pick it up in the second half. A four round T-side was overturned by a staunch 9-1 CT side, which allowed the squad to secure a 13-9 map win and tie up the series at 1-1.
Inferno was one of the worst of the bunch, with Complexity having the first-half CT-side advantage and getting run over as MOUZ secured a 10-2 half. It quickly got even worse as the Europeans won the second-half pistol win the final map 13-2, winning the series 2-1.
Complexity, now out of Thunderpick, have a few weeks before the BLAST Premier Fall Final in Copenhagen and will spend some time back at home before once again heading to Europe.
