Nouns eliminated from Thunderpick World Championship
After an opener loss against Heroic where Nouns showed good Counter-Stirke, the North American squad would face the loser of BIG vs. FURIA, which would be the Brazilian squad. Nouns were looking to stay alive with a win today, but FURIA entered the server with a chip on their shoulder after being demolished yesterday and didn't give Nouns a chance.
It remains to be seen if Nouns will be staying in Europe until ESL Challenger Jönköping, which will be running from November 24th until the 27th. The DAO-backed organization still has to play five games of ESL Challenger League Season 46 North America until the end of the regular season.
The series started off in FURIA's Vertigo, where Nouns chose to start on the T-side, which would prove to be a mistake. The Brazilians got off to a 6-1 lead that turned into a 10-2 halftime score. Although Nouns started the CT-side with three straight round wins, FURIA closed the map in the next three rounds. 13-5 was the final score on Vertigo.
Nouns would then host the Brazilian squad on their own pick of Mirage, where they beat Heroic yesterday. Again starting on the T-side and again starting slow, this time with a 7-1 deficit that would turn into a 10-2 halftime lead for FURIA. Despite losing the second half pistol round, Nouns managed to string together five rounds before FURIA put an end to the series with a 13-7 win.
Following this loss, Nouns have been eliminated from Thunderpick World Championship 2023, making them the third North American team to leave the event in the group stage. Complexity is the only NA squad still alive in the competition and will face MOUZ today at 11:00AM.
