Complexity overcome FURIA to meet Liquid in Showdown finals
Complexity have taken down FURIA in an extended 2-1 series to set up a confrontation against Liquid in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown finals tomorrow. While the series wasn't pretty, Complexity managed to take down a somewhat dysfunctional FURIA over the course of Overpass, Nuke, and Inferno.
Starting on Complexity's map pick of Overpass, the NA squad likely quickly regretted the choice as Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato put on an absolute heater as he led his team to take their opening CT-side 11-4, notably winning the last six rounds of the half in a row. After switching sides, Complexity attempted to mount a comeback by winning their CT-side pistol round, however FURIA had Overpass locked in as they took the map 16-7.
Moving onto FURIA's map pick of Nuke, it was FURIA's turn to feel some degree of regret for their choice of map as Complexity won their second pistol round of the series before holding steady on their CT-side to win the half 10-5. Moving into the second half, Nuke continued to be a grinding struggle for both sides, but one narrative will absolutely dominate the CS consciousness after this series— Why did Andrei "arT" Piovezan keep buying the Auto Sniper? Despite getting some kills with it, the BLAST analyst desk and fan everywhere will note that in round 28 this decision cost FURIA match point due to a fault ramp hold allowing Complexity to ultimately win the map and force it onto Inferno.
With the series all tied up, Inferno proved to be a bloodbath and grind much like Nuke. After FURIA won their T-side 9-6, the game became a desperate battle for rounds with FURIA at one point being up 14-11 over Complexity. However, in a true testament to how far Complexity have come as a team they managed to claw back five rounds in a row to take Inferno 16-14, sending FURIA packing in a series that came down to the wire.
Complexity will now take on Liquid tomorrow at 02:00PM.
