Complexity withstands Genius offensive
Complexity can breathe a massive sigh of relief as they recovered from a horrendous T-side to secure their own pick of Overpass as they advanced to the next round of the BLAST Premier Americas Showdown. It was a back-and-forth game between the two sides, with Ricky "floppy" Kemery continuing with his strong form from ESL Pro League Season 18. For Evil Geniuses, they will rue missed opportunities, but have another shot at Complexity with the ESL Challenger Jönköping Closed Qualifier coming up.
The first half of Evil Geniuses' pick of Inferno was back and forth, but the Seattle-based organization took a slight advantage on their T-side, 8-7. The team overwhelmed Complexity consistently throughout the map and was a constant thorn in their side, preventing the Cowboys from getting any sort of momentum. The second half was almost just like the first, but Evil Geniuses pulled out to take a 12-10 lead. It wouldn't last for long as Complexity roared back to secured the map that went down to the wire, 16-14.
Overpass was a game of sides, as it was decided by the defenses. The first half saw Complexity on their own map pick struggle to get even four T-side rounds as the Geniuses were outstanding in holding down the bombsites. With a daunting 11-4 scoreline to begin the second half, it was dependant that Complexity win the pistol, which they did. They carried that win over into eight rounds in a row to lessen the gap to one round at 11-12. While Complexity seemed to stumble for a second, they secured the win 16-14 all thanks to a staunch defense and beautiful eco-round win.
