Pimp calls "bullshit" on daps IGLing for Liquid in CS2
Just before Liquid and Forsaken took it to the servers during the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2023 Americas, James Banks talked to Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis about Liquid's recent roster moves, benching Aleks "Rainwaker" Petrov, replacing him with Damian "daps" Steele.
After the interview, analyst Jacob "Pimp" Winneche played a blaring sound, saying it was his "bullshit alarm". The former Liquid player believes the Latvian IGL is trying to "mitigate the situation and be as positive as possible" but he also believes that it's not the way to go for the now-NA-majority roster, only if they "are okay with being shit".
What made Pimp's alarm go off was the fact that YEKINDAR revealed that daps won't be the IGL during this event and that the Canadian will keep his spot in the roster in CS2.
What on Earth did I listen to? Did [YEKINDAR] say that daps is not going to call on this tournament? Why on Earth is he on the server then? You could find someone else with more firepower that could just frag out. Second of all, there's a chance that daps will stay with Liquid for CS2? Bullshit. You have a lot of players out there on the market, let me refer to one cadiaN, perhaps, you know? That could be interesting.
I know what YEKINDAR is trying to do in this interview, he is trying to mitigate the situation and be as positive as possible, but let's be honest, that's not a solution for a team of the caliber of Liquid unless they are okay with being shit.
The rest of the analyst desk, composed by Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen and Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez, agreed with Pimp, as the former Astralis player thought that bringing daps in "was a short-term solution because YEKINDAR was tilted off his mind to play as IGL" and doesn't see the point of fielding the Canadian coach.
Maniac argued that removing Rainwaker, who was the anchor player, meaning he didn't have to talk much, and replacing him with daps just for the team to have more voices, would require the system to change.
Liquid beat Forsaken 2-1 and will face off against Party Astronauts tomorrow at 12:00PM for a spot in the final of BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2023 Americas.
