What to expect from Complexity v. Evil Geniuses
What I am about to say, and it might sound like a joke, but this will be the first matchup between these current squads of Complexity and Evil Geniuses. I know, it's ridiculous. They are two American squads that have played in so many of the same events together, yet somehow they have not faced off. HLTV has no record of a single match between the two, even going as far back with Evil Geniuses Black. Paytyn "junior" Johnson, and again this sounds ridiculous, will finally play against Complexity in an HLTV-recorded match for the second time in his career. The first was while on FURIA and when Complexity was a European team. Wild. At the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, it's finally time to see which of these two long-time American organizations come out on top.
Complexity climbing up
Finally, finally it seems that Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski has settled into the squad at Complexity. Him and the team are looking solid and Ricky "floppy" Kemery had one of the best events of his career at ESL Pro League. The loss against G2 stings and the loss against Monte likely hurts more, but this team is just inches away from some major success.
-
floppy needs to keep his form consistent
-
EliGE is a pillar of this team's performance
-
JT has to remain calm and collected to guide through one of the tougher first round teams
Living Evily
Evil Geniuses are on a little bit of a run having qualified for the ESL Challenger Jönköping closed qualifier, are 2-0 in ESL Challenger League, and didn't finish last at ESL Pro League. The squad is slowly climbing back up the ranks in North America, but continue to hit hiccups. Today is a statement game for the squad as they look to punch above their weight and maybe upset the best team in North America.
-
Let junior cook: He's got a hot-hand and needs the freedom for a revenge game
-
jeorge is finally getting back to form, the team needs to look towards him
-
Walco continues to be doubted as a caller, an upset would prove a lot of people wrong
Previous Matchups
Literally, these two lineups have never played one another - at least on HLTV matches. It's been wild that these two teams, even with the two squads on slightly different levels domestically, don't know one another outside of practice. The teams are familiar with each other, but in a competitive environment, it can always be different.
Likely Vetoes
We don't have any good feedback publicly on what is going to happen, but let's imagine that they just play to their strengths.
-
Evil Geniuses ban Anubis
-
Complexity ban Mirage
-
Evil Geniuses pick Inferno
-
Complexity pick Overpass
-
Decider will be Vertigo.
At the end of the day, I could also see Ancient coming through as a final map, but Complexity's favorite of Anubis will not go through and that tilts the scales just a bit.
Complexity and Evil Geniuses kick off at 12:00PM.
