Yeah and Big Frames round out FLASHPOINT Closed Qualifier field
Day two of the fourth and final FLASHPOINT Open Qualifier has come to an end, seeing Yeah and Big Frames come out on top and advance to the Closed Qualifier later this week.
Polar Ace South made quick work of Infinity Esports in the quarterfinals, sweeping the South American side with consecutive 16-12 and 16-11 victories on Mirage and Nuke, respectively.
On the other half of that side of the bracket, Yeah reverse swept slashLEVEL after dropping the opener on Train 12-16. The Brazilians were able to bounce back with a 16-11 win on Dust2 and a 16-7 win in the decider on Inferno.
Oceanus traded maps back and forth with ETHEREAL, winning the opener on Dust2 16-12, going the distance but losing on Mirage 16-14, then needing overtime to clinch the decider, Nuke, by a final score of 19-16.
Big Frames avenged their loss against Team Divine in the ESL One Rio qualifier, securing a 2-1 win to advance within striking distance of a spot in the Closed Qualifier. After an opening 17-19 loss on Inferno, Big Frames rattled off a 16-10 win on Dust2 and a 16-2 thrashing on Mirage to set up a semifinal bout against Oceanus.
When it came down to their semifinal best-of-three, Yeah ensured that they would not have to fight from behind in the series again. The Brazilian side completely dismantled Polar Ace South 16-4 on Nuke before battering them 16-2 on Inferno, securing their spot in Friday's Closed Qualifier.
The semifinal series between Big Frames and Oceanus was much more drawn out than the first. After Big Frames came out swinging with a convincing 16-10 win on Nuke, Oceanus answered right back with a 16-9 win on Vertigo, leaving Dust2 as the battleground for the final spot in the Closed Qualifier. It was a back and forth affair, but one that saw Big Frames triumph 16-13.
The finalized FLASHPOINT Closed Qualifier field is:
