Who was Team USA's mystery coach?

Munstur is, surprisingly, not a misspelling of Muenster.

Team USA 's women's team enjoyed a strong run in the IESF 2023 Women's tournament, making it to third place after besting all but grand finalists Argentina and Netherlands. While this result undoubtedly came down to the skill of the EG Gold/FlyQuest RED mix, the squad had an unexpected source of support while in Iași. Dust2.us confirmed that Team USA were coached by local talent and former GamerLegion analyst Luca "Munstur" Ioanitiu during their time in the latter's home country. Now, it goes without saying that Munstur is not American, so how did he end up coaching the squad?

Munstur told Dust2.us that he linked with Team USA at the last minute after the squad's original coach was unable to attend the tournament based in Romania. As Munstur knows some of the players on the team he offered his services up to the team, creating this odd pairing.

Despite what may be assumed on the surface, Dust2.us confirmed IESF has no rules regarding the nationality of a team's coach, meaning Munstur was clear to follow the team on their journey to third place.

With Munstur, Team USA competed with the following lineup:

  • United States Vanessa "vanessa" Gideon

  • United States Marissa "madss" Dasta

  • United States Kelsie "uhKelsie" Click

  • United States Kiara "m1lky" Makua

  • United States Juliana "Juli" Tosic

  • Luca "Munstur" Ioanitiu (Coach)

Team USA finished IESF 2023 in third place after falling once again to Team Argentina in a three-map series.
