Big shuffle in ESL Impact scene

Teams are starting to get ready for ESL Impact Season 4

The ESL Impact scene in North America has seen the uprising of a few teams in the last years, other than the usual FlyQuest RED squad, which has brought a new life to the competitions. Two of those teams were Shimmer and Detonate SparX, formerly known as Chimkin.

Since the start of 2023, the ESL Impact Cash Cup events have been won by just three teams, FlyQuest RED once, SparX/Chimkin four times, and Shimmer nine times. But now, Julie "Bouchard" Bouchard and Andrea "Andrea" Bracewell have left SparX to join Shimmer, with Vanessa "vanessa" Gideon and Lynn "Lx" Clarke being the ones on the way out.

It's not possible to see the new look Shimmer in action this weekend due to the Cash Cup rule that stops a team from playing the event after winning it two times in a row, but one of the players that left the team seems to have found a new home, as vanessa joined the server with the Evil Geniuses Gold squad.

At the start of the current month, the women's team of the Seattle-based organization parted ways with two players, Jessica "jesscas" Ngo and Anna "lovergirl" Gutierrez, and head coach Luis "onter" Contreras. This weekend, EG Gold fielded vanessa and Juliana "Juli" Tosic, former CLG Red player, as Joseph "muenster" Lima took on coaching duties.

ESL Impact Cash Cups are known for the different mixes and tournament-specific roster alterations, so it's not certain that vanessa and Juli are staying with EG Gold full-time, but Bouchard and Andrea are staying with Shimmer for the foreseeable future.

With this, Shimmer are now:

  • United States Abigail "abby" Deters

  • United States Lucy "empathy" Verkaik

  • United States Lisa "lisa" Nguyen

  • Canada Julie "Bouchard" Bouchard

  • United States Andrea "Andrea" Bracewell
