regali: "In every lineup I have been in, I had to be the star player"
As the second semester of the year is now in full swing with IEM Cologne having already started, new-look teams are also beginning to find their footing and adjust to their new systems. One of the teams that changed the most is OG, which acquired Iulian "regali" Harjău after the Romanian AWPer stood in for the team in IEM Dallas. regali talked with dust2.us' Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore about his transition to being a full-time player for OG, the responsibility of being the star player, and more.
Please note that the full interview can be found below on YouTube, while the transcript has some key snippets from their conversation.
What do you think contributes to the fact that you have been suffering all these close losses, recently?
We didn't really practice. We practiced at BLAST, for example, but it was our bootcamp as well so we didn't practice before that and it's pretty hard now in the beginning that everyone has a lot of ideas and we have to practice so many maps. We don't have a big map pool either, it's pretty hard but we are trying our best. Officials are good because we can learn from them more than we do in practice, so we are at least grateful for that.
You have had a very quick rise through the international scene, going from Copenhagen Flames to this new OG roster. Is there some added pressure for you to be one of the star players on this roster?
No, because I feel like in every lineup I have been in, I had to be the star player and the aggressive player I should be in the systems. It's really hard now because in my mind I don't really have the tier one experience but it's not only about that, it's just if I would play like I usually play, everything would be easier but I just need to practice my moves. As I said, we really didn't have time to practice, we really need time.
Regali and OG will be facing off against Complexity tomorrow at 01:30PM.
