ROK Esports announces $4k Miami LAN

It's not quite Fragadelphia, but an NA LAN has arrived.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic and the seeming demise of the Fragadelphia - Nerd Street Gamers partnership, North American Counter-Strike fans have been begging for more local LANs throughout the country. Earlier this week, some hopes have been answered as a relatively unknown organizer has announced a new LAN being held in the Magic City.

The Counter-Strike HeatWave LAN will be held at the ROK Esports Center in Palmetto Bay, FL from September 2nd through September 3rd, with the organizer accepting open signups. Registration for a team of five will cost approximately $500 with 70% of the fees going towards the prizepool of the event.

In order to alleviate costs for those traveling from out of town, Voxel has organized a discount code with the nearby Quality Inn that will allow groups of four to book a room for $100 when mentioning ROK Esports during booking.

While the prizepool is somewhat sizeable for a local LAN, the organizer is looking for figures within the North American scene to help by volunteering their time or their platform to make the event a success. "We're mostly relying on high level talent or notable figures to help out on their own, and to play their part in rebuilding the NA CS scene with their influence" said Tyler "Techne" Nguyen, founder of Voxel Esports.

Those interested in connecting with the organizer can do so through their Discord and can find out more information on their website.
