New England Whalers release Brazilian team; expected to sign ex-Ascent
New England Whalers have announced the release of their Brazilian CS:GO squad with immediate effect, citing visa issues as the reason.
The team's largest achievement was likely qualifying to ESEA Advanced after finishing 5-6th in ESEA Main Season 31. They are likely and regrettably more known for an incident involving former player Felipe "pavel" Costa in late September. Former oNe member Caike "caike" Costa also represented the organization during two separate stints.
New England Whalers' lineup was:
- Heloy "hellzaoo" Nelson
- Rafael "saffee" Costa
- Caike "caike" Costa
- Leonardo "Torres" Souza
- Eduardo "shemp" Ferreira
- Jeffrey "slv" Gomes (Coach)
All signs point to the organization looking to quickly pick up another team, however, as MDL side ex-Ascent were spotted playing under the name in the first IEM Katowice 2020 qualifier.
Dust2.us knows that the North American team will also be representing the organization at Fragadelphia 14 this weekend, and that co-founder and CEO Diego "MrDiego" Freitas will be in attendance.
Should the deal come to fruition, New England Whalers' new team would consist of:
- Marc-Andre "NiSMO" Tayar
- Jonathan "djay" Dallal
- Lucas "Fiziq" Blow
- Brandon "BOOBIE" Roberts
- Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue
With Fragadelphia 14 kicking off later today, the team will be heavy favorites to make it our of their group, which also features The Home of the Grave, AtomiK's Goons, and 16k.
