timbermen trio splits for first time in 5+ years
Derek "dare" Brown has announced his departure from timbermen following the team's reclamation of their spot in ESL Challenger League. The news comes as a watershed moment in dare's career as his decision to leave timbermen marks the end of a 5+ year partnership with Shane "shane" Dressler and Wyatt "snav" Phillippi that began during Season 28 in ESEA Open.
During the trio's 5+ years together, dare, shane, and snav weathered innumerable controversies and sanctions for outlandish and offensive behavior as players. However, since their past came to a head in 2022, the trio seem to have committed to better behavior as players and people. In September 2022, dare admitted the team "should've been banned" and that they were committing to be better in the future.
As such, dare told Dust2.us that he decided to go out on his own and search for a team due to timbermen's continued roster issues, with the latest being shane potentially being unable to play due to IRL commitments.
This decision will be a massive test for dare's commitment to walk the straight and narrow as a player and as a person. However, considering he has a 1.15 rating over 95 maps in 2023, he may prove to be an enticing prospect for a team willing to take a chance on him.
With dare leaving the nest, timbermen are now:
-
Shane "shane" Dressler
-
Wyatt "snav" Phillippi
-
Tianyi "Fr3nk1e" He
-
Dongfeng "Project90" Liu
With the player break in full swing, it remains to be seen whether dare's departure will end timbermen or they will manage to rebuild without him.
