Dust2 Digest: Top news from March 2023
The Dust2 Digest is a monthly digest recapping all the most important and impactful pieces of NA CS news each month on the Dust2.us and HLTV news networks.
Growing North American organization Detonate continued their CS:GO expansion by signing the Chimkin lineup to create Detonate SparX, the organization's first all-female CS lineup.
Another chapter of Evil Geniuses' Blueprint was completed earlier in the month following the dissolution of the EG Black roster, leaving the EG org with their men's primary and secondary rosters alongside their female team.
7AM NA took home the gold at BTL's St. Louis LAN with wins over Melly Madness and the future ESEA Advanced S44 champions X13 to take home the lion's share of the $2,000 prize pool.
X13 completed a four-series lower bracket run to earn themselves a finals seat against Take Flyte. X13 did not crumble to the automatic start, grinding out the five-map series to win 3-2 and earn a seat in S45 of ESL Challenger League.
NA's golden boy Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken made history this month by winning his second Intel Grand Slam after FaZe took first at ESL Pro League S17. Twistzz set a new standard following this win by becoming the first player to win the Grand Slam twice while also having a Major trophy under his belt.
MIBR edged out a tough competitor in ATK to win ECL S44 and earn a direct invite to ESL Pro League S18, a challenge MIBR has been seeking for some time now.
In dramatic fashion, the once highly touted collegiate CS:GO program at Davenport University is in limbo following the departure of almost the entirety of the three-teamed, 15-player, multi-staffed structure.
Following a series of unfortunate events which included a player falling ill and another failing to retrieve their passport in time, Detonate has been forced to bow out of the Americas RMR after clinching a seat for the first time in organization's history.
Evil Geniuses have found their way back into the limelight despite being dormant for a whole month thanks to a heap of unlucky hitting the Detonate camp. Regardless of who deserves what, EG is heading to Mexico.
