FalleN reveals he could possibly play for an NA team next year
It's not exactly a secret that Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo is likely to retire after the end of the 2023 season. He's mentioned it multiple times to Dust2.us and to Dust2 Brasil that he will be thinking about ending his professional career, with a focus towards his family driving this decision.
During the Flow Podcast, FalleN was joined by Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes, Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian, and Rafael "zakk" Fernandes where they discussed a wide range of topics, but FalleN touched on his career. The following quotes are translated from an original article on Dust2 Brasil.
Today, particularly, I think the following: if I'm going to play next year, if that world exists, it's going to be in a world where I live in the United States because of all these things in my life that were directed there. My girlfriend's job will be there, besides I like living there. If I'm going to play next year it will have to be based in the United States.
There are some worlds for that, we even talked about us (Imperial) going there. VINI has a desire to live there because his girlfriend has a father and mother there, so there is a world of moving. But it is still a long way off, we didn't stop to think. There is also the possibility that I stop playing for Imperial and play for an American team
Throughout the podcast, FalleN also mentioned that he has not yet ruled out retiring so he can develop in other aspects of his life, or even help in esports later on. While pursuing his professional career, FalleN maintains his travel routine. Imperial was in Poland for a boot camp and traveled to Brazil to compete in the qualifiers. While the team lost in the open qualifier of IEM Rio 2023, they would go 3-0 and win a spot for the American RMR Americas in the BLAST.tv Paris Major.
Now, Imperial travels to Malta for the ESL Pro League S17. The Brazilians are in group B of the competition and will debut against FURIA on March 1st.
