MIBR outrun the hounds
After they pushed NIP to the limit in their opening match yesterday, MIBR came into the lower bracket match agains Grayhound as the favorites with the Aussie side showing very little in their opener against Spirit.
The match started off on Inferno with the two teams trading some messy force buy wins after the Brazilian side won the pistol round. Grayhounds AWPer Alistair "aliStair" Johnston has struggled at big events, with just a 0.84 rating across his career so far, but he come up with a big 1v1 to stop the rot. A 9-6 half gave the MIBR team a small advantage but the Grayhound team managed a sneaky ninja defuse to steal the pistol. However, in a very messy second half the Brazilians came out on top with a 16-13 win.
Map two was Anubis and with the Aussie side having only played the new map once in a recorded official, an overtime loss to Australian minnows Rooster, MIBR were firmly in the driving seat. After losing the pistol the Australian side shocked the Brazilians with a stellar defense as they took a 7-5 lead but the MIBR side leaned on new addition Felipe 'insani' Yuji as they evened up the score 8-7.
The Aussie side put up a impressive fight on T side including a massive 1v2 from youngster Declan "Vexite" Portelli, and the firepower of insani and AWPer Henrique "HEN1" Teles wasn't enough to drag the Brazilians over the line as they fell 14-16. The two teams would duke it out on Vertigo in the third and final map.
Fortunately for Brazil the MIBR squad would show strength in resetting their mental to run off to a dominant 7-0 lead on Vertigo. Once again the MIBR young gun insani was farming as he reached the 20 kill mark just before the end of the first half and helped the Brazilians to a 13-2 lead. A pistol round win left it a easy close out for MIBR 16-2.
The win means MIBR will move on to face Fnatic for a spot in the IEM Katowice Group Stage.
