Complexity vs Permitta, what to expect
Today is "make or break" day for North America, and the whole Americas region. With a loss today, Complexity and Evil Geniuses will exit IEM Katowice through the backdoors. Despite the bleak scenario, Complexity still have hope of winning today's game against Permitta, which means the team will face ENCE tomorrow.
Before getting too ahead, what can be expected from today's series against the lesser-known squad from Poland? Will this be an easy BO3 for the Americans or can the Poles surprise everyone and eliminate Complexity?
The Permitta squad has been together since November 2022 under a different name. While being PALOMA, the team qualified for CCT Central Europe Series 1 Playoffs, and won the ESEA Advanced division in Europe. After the name change to Permitta, the roster conquered Poland's ESL Championship, qualifying for IEM Katowice Play-In and EPL Conference Season 17 Europe, where they exited after two straight losses.
Yesterday, Permitta lost 16-4 against FURIA on Mirage, a map both teams love. Mariusz "casey" Jarząb, Permitta's most impactful player was nowhere to be seen in that BO1, which made a tough game even tougher for the Poles. Complexity can't rely on that, because, despite casey being a somewhat inconsistent player, he can really bring the heat to the server when he gets comfortable.
The Poles have not played a single match in Anubis, and have not won a single map of Overpass since becoming Permitta. This is great news for Complexity as the team has been seen picking Anubis and Overpass is the squad's most-played map since adding Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli. Complexity permanent ban, Mirage, also bodes well in this series, as the team from Poland plays mostly on that map, having a 62.5% win rate on it, across eight matches. Permitta plays a lot of Nuke and Ancient, as well, with both maps being main picks for the team. This is also good news for Complexity as Nuke is the team's third most-played map, followed closely by Ancient.
The first ban for the Poles is, usually, Overpass. This means Complexity will be able to pick Anubis, like they have done in all BLAST Premier Spring Groups games except one. It is expected that Permitta will then pick Nuke or Ancient, after Complexity banned Mirage. The second round of bans will most likely see Complexity banning Vertigo, and Permitta banning Inferno, with the decider being either Nuke or Ancient.
This match-up seems to be heavily Complexity-favored but stats from the Polish team are not to be ignored, albeit against lesser teams. It will be interesting to see how the North American side will play against a weaker opponent on Anubis, given that they have mostly played that map against tier one teams.
Complexity vs. Permitta will start at 01:30PM an the winner will face ENCE tomorrow.
