North America, are you ready to have a BLAST?
BLAST has announced that the previously scheduled Spring Final taking place from June 7-11 will mark their return to North America with an event hosted in Washington DC. BLAST will be stateside for the first time since Liquid defeated MIBR at BLAST Pro Series: Los Angeles back in 2019. The event will feature a $450,000 prize pool and an automatic bid to the BLAST World Final in December.
The Spring Final will take place at the Entertainment and Sports Arena, which houses the practice facilities for the NBA's Washington Wizards, as well as being the primary home to both DC's WNBA franchise, the Washington Mystics, and their NBA G League team, the Capital City Go-Go.
BLAST will partner with Events DC and Monumental Sports and Entertainment to bring North America just it's third S-Tier Counter Strike: Global Offensive event since the start of the COVID pandemic. Washington DC in particular hasn't seen a LAN Counter Strike event since Bushido Boys beat Big Frames to win the National Championship Series: Major at GEXCon in June of 2019.
The winners of today's FaZe/OG and G2/NAVI matchups in Copenhagen, along with the lower bracket victors in the coming days, will join Vitality as Spring Final qualifiers directly from BLAST Spring Groups, while the remaining teams will battle through the American Showdown and European Showdown in April for the final two spots.
