KRIMZ: "The work is not yet done"
fnatic came into Rio ranked as the 16th best team in the world. A close victory in the Challengers Stage took them to the Legends Stage, and a dominant performance there thrust fnatic into the top eight of the Major. Unfortunately for the international roster, a quick 2-0 from Outsiders shut them down early on, bringing their overachieving Major run to a close. After their elimination game, Dust2us' Ryan Friend spoke with Freddy "Krimz" Johansson about fnatic's run and their future after the Major.
Tough game, really sorry to see, but top eight at the Major with a new team, do you feel confident or happy with how you guys performed overall?
I'm really happy with the progress that we've made here. We had some struggles previously with the Challengers Stage going into Legends, but making playoffs is super good. I'm sad we went out in the way we did today, we didn't play our game at all. It showed that we don't have the most stage experience. It was fun though.
Do you think that this event is proof that this is just the beginning of what you can achieve with this roster?
For sure, we haven't reached our peak yet. We are still making rookie mistakes as a group and as individuals. I think it's all about getting more experience together and playing more LANs, and getting onto playoff stages because we surely need experience. It's a work in progress. It's not gonna take one week or one month, it's gonna take a long time.
You've been a part of legendary rosters for what feels like forever and the fnatic organization hasn't had a lot of success recently, do you feel relieved now that you're on the upswing of things again?
Yes I'm relieved but the work is not yet done. I'm still hungry, I'm still motivated to play and win. The work is not done, we've made good progress here, and I'm looking forward to the next event.
