Bad News Bears join Riot Squad; to play with dapr
After being not-so-subtly teased on June 11th, Riot Squad have announced the signing of Bad News Bears.
The current iteration of the team was originally formed back in January when the roster featured the likes of Dylan "RIKO" Sabin-Arnce and Tyson "TenZ" Ngo. Since then, Bad Bears have been through numerous roster changes, although they have (mostly) managed to retain the core trio of Peter "ptr" Gurney, Mitch "mitch" Semago, and Josh "shinobi" Abastado.
During this time, Bad News Bears claimed a second-place finish in MDL Season 30, a first-place finish at the second Mythic Cup, and participated in two ECS Season 7 brackets.
With the signing, Michael "dapr" Gulino will be taking over as the team's fifth from Jeff "RZU" Ngo, with RZU once being relegated to be being a backup player. Dust2.us knows that the team are currently bootcamping at Riot Squad's team house, and will play the MDL Season 31 playoffs from there. The full team is expected to move into the house come August.
Riot Squad was founded back in March by George Bousis, a venture capitalist and former 1.6 CAL-Invite player. The announcement of their CS:GO team comes amidst a flurry of announcements for the organization, with Riot Squad also announcing Apex Legends, Rainbow Six: Siege, and Fortnite rosters today. Riot Squad also have an academy team in Main featuring former AZIO man Dave "seziwana" Schrage that currently sits at an 11-4 record.
Riot Squad's roster is:
- Peter "ptr" Gurney
- Mitch "mitch" Semago
- Josh "shinobi" Abastado
- Austin "crashies" Roberts
- Michael "dapr" Gulino
- Jeff "RZU" Ngo (Backup)
Riot Squad will make their debut with their new organization against ATK tonight at 7:30 EDT in the first round of MDL Season 31 playoffs.
