Org learned of roster moves via twitter
In the last few weeks, there has been an inordinate amount of attention paid to the recent departures of Brett "brett" Rhein and Brody "BeaKie" Kelly due to several community figures questioning and criticizing the move. Ian "motm" Hardy expressed his displeasure stating "For fucks sake just keep a 5 man." while ATK head coach Daniel "sprayxD" Kogan described the BHOP move as "shooting their own foot".
The moves also resulted in twitlongers from both brett and BeaKie where they noted they were "surprised" by the decision to be removed and they were told that they did not fit the "vision" of the team. In a tweet in response to a prior Dust2.us article, Szymon "LAJT" Jaworski noted that "you can't play successfully together when 2 peoples want play different than 3, we can't find synergy, there was no middle ground here".
Regardless of the decisions or the action behind the scenes, the moves were criticized by many while details regarding the departures of brett and BeaKie were only made by the players themselves. It appeared that the shockwaves from the move were dying down, however today BHOP Esports has put out a statement regarding the roster change.
This is a letter of apology and recognition to BeaKie and brett. The recent CS:GO roster changes were made without the consent or knowledge of BHOP Esports. It was shocking to learn of the changes only via Twitter well after the changes were made. For that, we apologize dearly to brett and BeaKie, but especially BeaKie who has been with us since the beginning. These moves were nothing short of heartbreaking. It will be tough to mend player relations, much less the CS:GO roster. The priority at the this moment is to recognize BeaKie and brett for their service in ESL Challenger League Season 42 and their incredible contributions to the CS:GO competitive scene. For BeaKie, his legacy is enshrined at bhopesports.com/csgo with a dedicated section showcasing his Top 5 Plays from Season 41. We will have a section for Season 42. Please be patient with us as we get ahold of our bearings and damage assess. Sincerely, BHOP Esports.
The declaration that the organization was completely unaware of the roster changes before they were publicly declared via twitter shows a disconnect between the players and management. Dust2.us has reached out to BHOP Esports for further clarification and if there will be any action taken after learning about the roster moves without organizational consent.
