First team confirmed for ADV S42 consolidation final
Continuing their epic lower-bracket run, Villainous cut the head off Snakes Den in a convincing 2-0 that takes nearly completes their journey through the trenches after losing to Snakes Den just four rounds ago.
The first map was down to the wire, as the two competed on Villainous’ pick of Ancient. It was as tight as it could be throughout the entirety of the map, with the two volleying win streaks back and forth. After winning eight rounds on their T-side, Villainous had the lead into the second half. They quickly assumed match point, winning six of eight to get there. Snakes Den put up a fight, winning five straight to make it a contest. However, Villainous closed it out in the final round to put away the comeback hopes with a 16-14 win. After a close victory, it was on to Snakes Den’s Nuke pick.
The last time these two teams competed, Snakes Den blew out Villainous 16-9. This time, the red-hot Villainous was able to get the best of their opposition on Nuke. After starting things off 4-1 on defense, Snakes Den were able to rally back with two of their own. That was the only semblance of success they could muster, as Villainous comfortably closed out the first half up 10-5. After the half switch, it was all Villainous’ offense. They won six straight to kick off the half to secure the 16-5 revenge beatdown and the 2-0 series sweep. From top to bottom, this was a completely different Villainous team, with four of the five members ending the series with a 1.30 rating or better.
The victory leaves Villainous waiting to find the winner of the grand final match later tonight, with the loser coming down to the lower bracket to face Villainous in the consolidation final. The winner of the consolidation final will find themselves in the grand finals of the ADV playoffs.
