ATK freezes Arctic
ATK and Arctic esports look to bounce back after first round losses and to also avoid the very real pressure of being on the brink of elimination. Each side are new to this level of competition with the very real possibility of the Major within their grasp - only adding to the pressure they face to win. This match started out on Ancient, with ATK starting out on the CT side and Arctic being the ones to attack.
ATK started out the match by successfully winning the pistol, but were unable to convert the following rounds putting them into a 3-1 hole. However, the boys from South Africa would be able to climb out as they stormed to a 7-4 lead on their CT side. After some back and forth, Arctic managed to slowly chisel away and bring it to a respectable 7-8 deficit on their T-side.
With Arctic seemingly having an advantage in the second half thanks to a strong T-side, ATK were once again put into a position of pressure. But under this pressure it where you make diamonds. Ian "motm" Hardy would help lead the squad forward as they win their T-side pistol and the next three rounds to separate themselves on the scoreline. At 12-7, ATK appeared in full control with a strong economy and a Arctic that was scrambling for any kind of structure.
After a quick tactical timeout, Arctic respond with two successive rounds and would end up making the game closer and closer. ATK responded in kind once it became 13-11 by winning a 14th round and forcing Arctic to re-evaluate their options. However Arctic would not be able to think much further as ATK continued to be strong and closed out the map 16-11.
