Evil Geniuses introduce three new additions; misutaaa deal reportedly off
Today, Evil Geniuses announced the additions of Sanjar "neaLaN" İshakov, Jadan "HexT" Postma, and Daniel "Vorborg" Vorborg to its main roster for the upcoming BLAST Premier Fall Groups starting August 18th. In a glaring omission, it was widely expected that Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier would be joining the organization after a report from 1pv.fr. Despite this, sources have now informed HLTV.org that the reason why the Vitality player's move fell through at the last minute is that the organization wished to retain a North American core for the upcoming Regional Major Ranking event in order to avoid utilizing a loophole in the rulebook.
The rules state that a team can choose which region they wish to play in if their lineup is split evenly between two regions. With this rule, Evil Geniuses would have been able to use their European core and still play in the North American RMR by submitting a six-man team featuring three North American players.
Evil Geniuses chose not to tempt fate, or any potential further complications, and have decided to move forward with a North American majority. Interestingly, Dust2.us knows that by Evil Geniuses submitting a new roster after the original roster deadline for BLAST Premier Fall, they will incur a seeding penalty and will now have a new seed within the event.
neaLaN, who will be replacing Jake "Stewie2k" Yip as IGL has spent just under the last two years playing for K23. The young team has enjoyed some impressive results, becoming the fourteenth best team in the world earlier this year and managing to stay afloat in ESL Challenger League through relegation. It will be interesting to see how well the young IGL will be able to cope with the jump into the NA scene by playing with significantly more internationally experienced players.
HexT, who will be moving up from the former Carpe Diem squad, has had his fair bit of success in the lower regions of North American Counter-Strike. This appearance with the "Main" roster of Evil Geniuses will be his first big test as part of the Blueprint project.
Evil Geniuses will now head to BLAST with their new roster in the form of:
-
Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov
-
Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte
-
Timothy "autimatic" Ta
-
Sanjar "neaLaN" İshakov
