Imperial suffer defeat in opening match
Imperial and BIG battled it out on Nuke earlier today, in what was a much closer game than it first appeared. With Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo suffering from immense back pain and having been treated by FURIA's medical staff prior to the start, there were already concerns about how the captain would perform in the opening round.
Imperial started on the T-side of Nuke, arguably the less favored one, and put up a dismal 2 rounds to BIG's 13. Florian "syrsoN" Rische and Josef "faveN" Baumann were the stand-out performers on BIG's side during their CT-side, posting 1.82 and 1.73 ratings respectively. Unfortunately Imperial didn't have a single-player making any showing on the T-side which lead to the unfortunate half-time result.
After the first half it appeared that Imperial would be swiftly dealt with by the Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz led team. However, the second half was a very different story as Imperial seemed to finally string some rounds together and gather momentum. After winning the CT-side pistol, Imperial started off the half on the right foot. Losing the first gun round was not in the cards, and a 14-4 scoreline spelled disaster.
No matter, as Imperial managed to then post 7 consecutive rounds after losing the gun round. Despite the previously mentioned pain, FalleN was able to post a 1.52 rating on their CT-side, leading the team to a 14-11 scoreline. Disaster struck again though and Imperial then lost the next to consecutive rounds and the map ended 16-11 in BIG's favor.
