WESG 2018 Day Four: MIBR sent home by Windigo; CLG Red set to face Lazarus in Finals
The fourth day of WESG has come to the a close with MIBR being shockingly eliminated from the event following a quarter-finals loss to Windigo. MIBR was the last team from the Americas at the mixed tournament, and now CLG Red are the only representative from the Americas to still be at either event, following their win over Those Damn Canadians.
As previously stated, the day started out with a surprise as Windigo were able to overcome MIBR in a close three-map series to continue their run at the Chinese event. The action started off on Dust2 where Windigo ended the half with a slight 8-7 lead on their CT side following a strong performance from Valentin "poizon" Vasilev. After Windigo won their opening T pistol, MIBR's hopes of getting back into map one was quickly dashed as Windigo appeared to be unstoppable as they claimed nine rounds in a row to close out the first map.
Moving onto Train, MIBR were able to answer back winning their T side 9-6. After this, they vindicated their poor CT side performance on Dust2 by only allowing Windigo two rounds before closing Mirage out 16-8. Fernando "fer" Alvarenga was MIBR's standout player on Train, putting up a 1.64 rating and claiming a 4k on round 24 to take map two.
After their strong performance on Train, MIBR were shocked by a near-impenetrable CT defense by Windigo, nearly putting the series on match point by closing out the half 13-2. However, even though they also lost the opening pistol, MIBR mounted a massive comeback as they claimed ten rounds on their CT side to put the game back into contention. However, it was not meant to be as Windigo stopped MIBR's comeback by winning match point on round 29.

Over in the female tournament, it was a North American derby as CLG Red faced off against Those Damn Canadians in the semi-finals. With the first map going to Dust2, Those Damn Canadians started off the series in an impressive fashion, claiming 12 rounds on their opening T side. After this it was quick work for the Canadian squad as they quickly claimed three more rounds on their CT side to take map one. During the bout on Dust2, CLG Red's Mounira "GooseBreeder" Dobie tore into her American teammates putting up a 1.71 rating.
Moving onto the second map, following Those Damn Canadian's dominant start to the series, they appeared to run out of steam as CLG Red absolutely battered their Canadian opposition taking Train without much resistance in a 16-2 victory.
On the third and final map, CLG Red once again won the first although Those Damn Canadians trailed closely. However, like in the previous maps of the series once CLG Red moved onto their T side, they demolished Those Damn Canadians taking six rounds in a row, eventually closing out the series with a 16-7 score line, only allowing Those Damn Canadians one round on their CT side.

Following their loss to CLG Red, Those Damn Canadians still had a chance to end "in the money" as they took on the Australian Carnage fe squad in the third-place map.
Those Damn Canadians started off the series on a firm footing as they won their CT half on Inferno with a very slight 8-7 lead. However much like many of the recent matches, once Those Damn Canadians transitioned over their T side, Carnage fe seemed unable to deal with the aggression as Those Damn Canadians claimed eight rounds to close out map one while only allowing carnage fe two rounds on their CT side. During their victory, Catherine "CAth" Leroux put a 1.71 K/D ratio along with having a manage a 111 ADR.
On Dust2, Carnage fe were able to force the series to a third map after narrowly taking Dust2 12-16. This was despite the best efforts of CAth who did everything in her power to prevent a third map putting up 38 kills and an insane 134 ADR.
On the third and final map of the series, CAth's efforts on Dust2 seemed to rally the troops as they closed out their T half 10-5. After this, they continued their strong performance on their CT side, only allowing Carnage fe one more round before taking third place.
