Wolfy benched from ECSTATIC, to temporarily step away from competition
Swedish-American AWPer Adam "WolfY" Andersson has been benched from ECSTATIC following the announcement that he was taking a break from competitive Counter-Strike by the organization. In the same announcement of the benching, ECSTATIC also announced that Nexus player, Adrian "XELLOW" Guta, will be filling the void WolfY has left as the side searches for a long-term replacement.
The 23-year-old had been a key component of the predominantly Danish roster since late last year, joining Lyngby Vikings permanently in September 2021 prior to their rebrand to ECSTATIC in November. Prior to his time with ECSTATIC, WolfY played with a variety of NA teams, including Secret Club, Swedish Canadians, and OCG.
During his tenure with ECSTATIC, WolfY contributed to several impressive results. The team triumphed in the Pinnacle Fall Series 3 in December 2021, as well as finishing as runners-up at the recent Thunderpick Bitcoin Series last month. Since their rebrand from Lyngby Vikings, the squad has not fallen outside of the HLTV top 30, peaking at number 16. However, the team faced disappointment recently, missing out on the EU RMR for the PGL Antwerp Major.
As of now, it is unclear as to how long WolfY will be away from competitive Counter-Strike, or whether he will return to ECSTATIC's active lineup. Fellow teammate Dion "FASHR" Derksen lamented on Twitter that he was going to miss the benched AWPer, perhaps an indication that he may not return to the lineup. Despite this, only time will tell.
ECSTATIC's roster going forward will consist of:
-
Dion "FASHR" Derksen
-
Jakob "Daffu" Schildt
-
Thomas "birdfromsky" Due-Frederiksen
-
Marcus "maNkz" Kjeldsen
-
Adrian "XELLOW" Guta (Stand-in)
-
Adam "WolfY" Andersson (Benched)
