Report: RED Canids in negotiations with new team helmed by HEN1 and LUCAS1
According to a report by Gabriel Oliveira and Roque Marques of ge esports, RED Canids are actively in negotiations with a group of players headlined by the Teles brothers, Henrique "HEN1" Teles and Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles. The other players involved are Bruno "shz" Martinelli, Denner "KHTEX" Barchfield, and Lucas "decencty" Bacelar; the latter of which is currently a player for FURIA Academy and is only being floated as a potential fifth.
This prospective move follows a year away from CS:GO for RED Canids, who released their lineup which featured the likes of Lucas "DeStiNy" Bullo and Alef "tatazin" Pereira back in February of last year. The team went through a time of roster instability at the end of 2020 and beginning of 2021 with KHTEX and Bruno "latto" Rebelatto both parting ways with the squad as they couldn’t peak any higher than 116th at that time in the HLTV rankings. In their CS:GO history, starting back in August of 2016, the organization has never been able to rank higher than 60th — an extremely short-lived peak.
Headlining the team are famed Brazilian twins HEN1 and LUCAS1; the two were last benched from 00 Nation in October 2021 and whilst they struggled to find a new home, Brazilian hype surged without them around new teams such as Imperial and Case. The brothers have been a package deal since January 2021, when HEN1 requested to seek new opportunities away from FURIA to play with his brother. It’s unknown what kind of form the AWPer and rifler will be in but the experience that the two players will bring to the squad, after many years at the top including a trip to a Major grand final at PGL Krakow 2017, is something this team will benefit from.
The third piece of the puzzle mentioned by the report is shz; he’s not quite as experienced in tier one as the Teles brothers but the 23-year-old has played for some of the premier Brazilian organizations including Luminosity, Immortals, and most recently MIBR.
The fourth and final free agent being negotiated with for the new roster is KHTEX, an in-game leader that the organization is familiar with as he played under their banner for six months in 2020 before retiring to pursue a career in VALORANT. After the short-lived month-long venture into Riot’s game, he reunited with some of his former RED Canids teammates in his most recent team, Paquetá. If signed, the 25-year-old would be entering his seventh consecutive year playing in the Brazilian scene.
As stated by the report, the fifth spot on the roster has yet to be decided as the possible candidates are still contracted to their teams. decencty of FURIA Academy and Lucas "DeStiNy" Bullo of Isurus are both players that the organization is considering, but due to a desire to not spend big, RED Canids are also interested in players on the open market.
With the American RMR tournament for Antwerp soon approaching, it’s likely that RED Canids will want their team signed by March 3rd, when registration for the open qualifiers is set to end.
The report makes no mention of who would potentially coach the team. RED Canids is expected to line up with the following players, as well as an undetermined fifth:
-
Henrique "HEN1" Teles
-
Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles
-
Bruno "shz" Martinelli
-
Dener "KHTEX" Barchfield
