ESEA x Fragadelphia Winter Cash Cup 4 reaches semifinals
The first day of the fourth ESEA x Fragadelphia Winter Cash Cup has concluded, seeing numerous heavyweight teams unable to secure deep runs in the event after falling to lesser opposition.
The first two rounds of the tournament kicked off with Party Astronauts securing a comfortable 16-9 victory versus Tempest while Bad News Bears started strong to break their early exit curse with a 16-5 victory over Pushing P. Despite this, there were some surprisingly early exits, notably seeing Mythic crash out of the event in the second round following a 16-7 defeat at the hands of LifeThru whilst reigning champions Orgless bombed out after losing 16-11 to Married to the Cookies.
Moving to the third round of play, Big Chillin managed to survive Hyperspace Dark in a grueling 16-14 matchup whilst Carpe Diem dispatched of the new-look Philadelphia Liberty with a convincing 16-7 scoreline of their own. Continuing with the upsets, 43rd seed "revenge tour" managed to take down 11th seed Kinship following a 16-11 showing on Overpass whilst Party Astronauts were brought down to earth after falling 16-13 to Obamacare V4 on Dust2.
Heading into round four, ONET4P bested X13 16-7 on Vertigo in an ESL Challenger League clash to move forward in the tournament and Third Impact took care of business versus Unjustified with a 16-10 victory on Nuke. A joint trip to Inferno saw Married to the Cookies manage to brush aside Big Chillin 16-9 whilst InControl lived up to their namesake by moving past Eros 16-7.
The first quarterfinal of the event saw Carpe Diem trounce revenge tour 16-2 on Inferno with Bad News Bears also seeing limited resistance in their one-sided 16-6 victory over Third Impact. Meanwhile, InControl ended Married to the Cookies' run following a 16-12 visit to Nuke while ONET4P secured a semifinal berth over Vireo.pro with a hard-fought 16-13 victory of their own.
