Quintet of female teams book spots at WESG Americas Regional Finals
WESG United States female kicked off last night, which saw two mix teams of Dignitas fe and silhouette players duking it out in the first and only semi-final. Surprisingly, Freedom Fraggers were able to take the victory over Emmalee "EMUHLEET" Garrido's American Eagles 2-1, and went on to face CLG Red for the top seed — and Lynnie "artStar" Noquez was not pleased about the turn of events.
The mix was outclassed by the full team, however, with newcomer Jennifer "refinnej" Le putting in a great showing on both maps.
WESG Canada has not kicked off yet, but with two spots to LAN on offer, and only two sides signed up, it will be another moot affair played out purely for seeding purposes. The two teams are again mixes of Dignitas fe and silhouette players, with Stephanie "missharvey" Harvey stepping in to help Mounira "GooseBreeder" Dobie and Amanda "rain" Smith.
The five American and Canadian female teams that will be heading to the event are:
CLG Red | potter, bENITA, di, Emy, refinnej |
Freedom Fraggers | chubbii, ProMise9k, exhile, j.aro, masq |
American Eagles | EMUHLEET, artStar, milk, raerae, theia |
Those Damn Canadians | GooseBreeder, rain, missharvey, CAth, ml- |
Poutine Puggers | athxna, smiLey, bouchard, lauren, sapphire |
The current team list for the event is:
Keyd Stars fe | NOXIUM fe |
CLG Red | Freedom Fraggers |
American Eagles | Those Damn Canadians |
Poutine Puggers | TBA |
It is not known how the final slot will be filled, as it was originally intended for Mexico and a host of other North/Central American countries, but no teams signed up.
The $16,000 WESG Americas Regional Finals Female event will run concurrently with the main event, in Santa Ana, California from February 1 to February 5. The top two teams at the event will earn spots at the World Finals in China, which will occur in March.
