Stewie's reaction to North's T side on Train

MIBR and Astralis to face off in ECS Season 6 grand finals

With Liquid making an early exit, MIBR is North America's last hope.

MIBR and Astralis are the only two teams remaining at ECS Season 6 Finals, with the Danish side taking down NiP 2-1 (16-7 Nuke, 11-16 Train, 16-5 Inferno) in the semifinals before MIBR closed out the day with a 2-1 victory of their own over North (16-2 Train, 8-16 Inferno, 16-9 Dust2).

The day kicked off on Astralis' home turf of Nuke, where they went up against NiP. With ECS using knife rounds to decide sides on all maps, the Danes had the benefit of starting off their own map on the CT side. Although NiP managed to secure the first pistol round for themselves, Astralis immediately reset the Swedes to take control of the economy and work their way up to a 5-1 lead.

NiP kept themselves competitive as they strung together four rounds of their own to tie up the score, but quickly found themselves shut out as Astralis secured the final five rounds of the half to take a firm 10-5 lead swapping over to their T side. With the second half pistol victory in hand, the Danes left little room for NiP to get back into the map, and with two timely resets quickly brought the map to a close 16-7 to take the series to Train.

Astralis seemed set to continue in their winning ways in the second map as they gained a 4-0 lead on the T side of Train, but it was NiP who had the benefit of starting on the CT side of their own map pick this time around and the Swedes were able to string together nine straight rounds to pull far ahead at 9-4. Astralis kept themselves competitive at the half by finding the final two rounds, leaving a deficit of three rounds as the sides swapped at the half.

Another pistol round victory allowed for Astralis to put themselves in touching distance of tying up the score at 8-9, but NiP kept the lead just out of reach as they secured another four rounds straight for a 13-8 lead. The Danes battled back with a trio of rounds of their own, but NiP answered back with a trio of their own to close out the map 16-11 in their favor.

Inferno was a whole different ball game as Astralis truly came to life. With Nicolai "device" Reedtz leading the way, Astralis put up a commanding first half score. NiP found themselves struggling to break the Astralis defense, edging out the Danes in just two of the 15 rounds and managing a bomb plant in just one of the 13 rounds they lost.

The Swedes kept their hopes alive in the second half by taking the first two rounds, but Astralis wouldn't let their lead slip and quickly closed out the map for a 16-5 win on the deciding map to advance to the grand finals.

Marcelo "coldzera" David helped MIBR put up identical numbers in their opening half of Train against North, granting the Danish team just two rounds in the half. With coldzera boasting a 27-6 scoreline and joined by Jake "Stewie2K" Yip in damage numbers, MIBR quickly cruised to a 16-2 win on North's map pick, taking the series to Inferno.

Inferno saw a similarly dominant scoreline on the CT side, this time with Nicklas "gade" Gade taking the reins for North to put up a 12-3 half. Despite MIBR's best efforts with a pistol round victory in the second half, North left the Brazilian-American mix little room to get themselves back into the map and closed out their opponent's pick 16-8.

Yet another one-sided first half scoreline saw MIBR dominate North's defensive hold on Dust2. After resetting the Danes following a win in the first pistol round, MIBR cruised to a 9-1 lead by forcing North to save round-after-round by cracking open bombsites. North managed to battle back for two additional rounds in the half, but found themselves staring down a 12-3 scoreline as they swapped onto ther own T side.

A pistol round victory by MIBR in the second half seemed to seal North's fate, but the Danes battled back to put themselves back in control of the economy. Despite the grim scoreline, North were able to string together six more rounds to close the deficit to 13-9, but MIBR found their footing and secured the final three rounds that they needed to win the series 16-9, advancing themselves to the grand finals against Astralis.
