Vitality outshine Luminosity to win DreamHack Open Atlanta
The Frenchmen of Vitality have become the champions of DreamHack Open Atlanta after taking down Luminosity 2-0 in the grand finals (16-4 Mirage, 16-6 Overpass).
Luminosity's pick of Mirage began with Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut combining to pull Vitality ahead for a 6-0 lead. Luminosity finally got on the board in the seventh round, but found themselves immediately reset as the infamous 7-1 scoreline went the way of Vitality.
Increasing the pace of their T side, Luminosity rallied back for an additional trio of rounds, but found themselves locked out at the end of the half as Vitality secured an 11-4 lead swapping to their T side. A 1vs2 clutch by Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer in the second half pistol kept Vitality in the drivers seat, allowing them to bring the map to a close 16-4.
Luminosity took the opening two rounds of Overpass, but again found themselves quickly outclassed by apEX and his French friends. Luminosity managed only two of the remaining thirteen rounds of the half, seeing Vitality once again pick up an 11-4 lead going into the second half.
The second pistol round of Overpass also went Luminosity's way, but an incredible ace from ZywOo on Vitality's full eco round immediately swung control back into the favor of the Frenchmen. With their economy in shambles, Luminosity were only able to muster one additional round before apEX put his team on match point with a 1vs2 clutch, allowing for Vitality to quickly close out the map 16-6.
