ZywOo couldn't be stopped on Train and Nuke

ZywOo shows renewed Vitality, defeats compLexity to advance to Atlanta grand final

An incredible performance from the young French player allowed Vitality to ease past compLexity.

Vitality have defeated compLexity 2-1 in the second semifinal matchup of DreamHack Open Atlanta (12-16 Dust2, 16-6 Train, 16-8 Nuke), nabbing themselves a spot in the grand finals against Luminosity.

The first map, Dust2, was Vitality's pick, with the Frenchmen starting off with a 4-0 lead. With only Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer fragging out, Vitality were unable to hold onto their lead for long as compLexity replied back with three rounds of their own. Rory "dephh" Jackson's side quickly reset Vitality after their next round win, allowing them up to an 8-5 lead before the final two rounds were traded between the teams for a 9-6 half in compLexity's favor.

Vitality came close to tying up the match by snagging the second half pistol round, but compLexity rallied back with four rounds of their own for a 13-8 scoreline. Vitality attempted to battle back by taking another round for their own, but compLexity were able to secure match point with another two round wins. The French fought for the map with a final trio of rounds, but compLexity closed out their opponent's map 16-12 to take the series to their own pick of Train.

The remainder of the series was the Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut show as the eighteen-year-old racked up a 31-10 K-D on Train, allowing Vitality to cruise through their CT side with a 14-1 lead as he averaged 146 damage per round. Match point quickly went to the Frenchmen as they took the second half pistol round, and ZywOo brought the map to a close after compLexity snatched five rounds of their own for a 16-6 finish.

compLexity kept themselves in the running as they kicked off Nuke on the CT side, opening up the match with a 5-1 lead. Again, ZywOo stepped up for Vitality, allowing his team to rally back for seven of the remaining nine rounds of the half to narrowly edge out the lead 8-7 and they swapped sides.

Vitality's CT side continued to impress as ZywOo once again broke the 30-kill mark, granting compLexity just a single T-side round as Vitality won the map 16-8, with ZywOo boasting a 31-11 K-D and 116 ADR. The young Frenchmen also averaged 107 ADR across the series, putting up a beastly 1.66 rating to cap off the semifinals.
